Non-destructive Ultrasound Testing
Most metallurgical tests require a sample that can be destroyed during the testing process. Ultrasound testing is a method that can be conducted on steel without cutting a sample. The process uses technology similar to what is used as a non-invasive way to view what is going on inside the human body and is commonly used with expectant mothers. An ultrasound test on a steel bar can reveal cracks or other flaws hidden under the surface without having to destroy the sample.
Three Titan technicians have met the standards of the American Society for Non-destructive Testing for Level 2 Ultrasound Testers. Although they can conduct tests in the Titan laboratory, the equipment is portable and very well suited for tests at a customer’s facility.
